I don't follow what you mean. If you check that box, you won't be bothered ever again to update the spell sheet after a level up, isn't that what you want? It won't affect anything else when levelling up. Or is your character a multiclass with other classes that do cast spells and you do want to see the prompt when you level up one of those classes? Even if you don't get prompted to update the spell sheet, you can always generate a new one using the buttons/bookmarks.

It's only with the ranger I don't want it appearing (and then only when I'm running a spell-less one, but eh), otherwise I find it very useful.

I'm still at a loss what would be the exact problem. So you do have a multiclass character in that one sheet? Checking the box will only have any affect on the character sheet you do it in. It won't affect any other characters you make with other sheets, it will only remember it for that one PDF. And it will forget that setting again if you reset the sheet. So there is no reason not to check the box other than if the character with spell-less ranger levels is multiclassing and a class other than the spell-less ranger is a spellcaster.

Ah, well good that we figured out this miscommunication

It is actually not possible for any settings you do in one PDF to have any affects on any other PDFs unless you install third-party software for that. So you can safely assume that any settings you do in one PDF will have absolutely no impact on another PDF.

Some minor changes this time. The biggest reason for this version is the inclusion of the Storm King's Thunder logo.

ENworld is experiencing issues with the download section and as a result I am unable to upload the new version. Instead, please use the Dropbox link.

MPMB's Character Record Sheet v12.06 (23 August 2016) has the following changelog:

Added the new Adventurers League season icon: Storm King’s Thunder;
Updated the FAQ;
Added a warning that is seen when the sheet is opened for the first time with the wrong software (i.e. not Adobe Acrobat);
Added a way to update the drop-down boxes with multiple weapons.
